Please I just finished my national diploma in law from unical and I want to further to get my llb in unilag please what are the requirements and do I stand a chance of been admitted to the school?

The direct entry requirements are: Very good passes in JUPEB/A Level Subjects: Literature-in-English and any two Arts or Social Sciences subjects.

First Degree with a minimum of Second Class Upper.

  35. I’ve second class upper in philosophy at Imo state university, can I do my masters in public and international affairs or any course related to that. Also if choose law as my second degree at what level will I start. Please guild me .Thanks.

    1. With second class upper in philosophy you can apply for masters in public and international affairs or related course if you meet the course requirements.

If you apply for Law by direct entry you will begin at 200 level.

  36. Good day sir, I have LL.B at Law as my first degree, and I want to study law at unilag as a second degree, please what’s the requirements and what level would I start from. thanks.

    1. Please visit the school admissions office to ask this question. I do not have the answer. Thank you.

  37. Hello Sir,

you said categorically that someone with a D7 in Maths in O’level certification can not get admitted as a Law student in Unilag and also someone with second class lower division in his/her first degree can not apply for Direct
Entry to study Law in Unilag.

My question is, what would you advice one who is in this two category?

    1. If the person in the above category wish to gain admission into Unilag to study Law then he/she should work towards meeting the published admission requirements for Law.

  38. hello sir….I have calculate all my points…
    for jamb i have 30.75
    o level i have 15.30
nw dey said d post utmeresult is out ….
    I downloaded the PDF
    and i saw 14….
can i still study law 🙁 in unilag ??

    1. Hello Damilola, from the data you have provided your total score is 60.05. Which state are you from?

  39. I had a 253 in jamb
    18 unilag utme test
    A1 government
    C5 in literature
    B2 in crk
    B3 in english
D7 in maths is it possible to still study law

    1. Please I graduated with second Class upper as a B.A holder in philosophy… But I did sciences in my O level exams. Do I still qualify for Direct entry to study law at Unilag

      1. That is I did sciences in my secondary school, cleared my waec with As and Bs, but there is no literature cos I was a science student, in this case do I still qualify to study law

        1. Please is there any other alternative for me… Like picking literature in English among the subjects I will write during Direct entry exams. Considering also the fact that the course I did at the University is Philosophy

          1. I got B2 in English Mathematics and CRS in Waec. Didn’t omit Literature in English during waec out of choice… It was rather what was obtainable that science students pick science subjects then in my Alma mater

          2. There is not published alternative for you. Literature is a required o-level subject for Law in Unilag

  40. Sorry for bothering you with this Sir…. But I wish to confirm.. Now I have to re-register for waec, then take those subjects (Literature in English, Government and Economics) which I didn’t take in my previous waec then combine the two results? since I have met every other requirements for Direct entry

    1. Unilag only accepts O-level results made at ONE sitting. This means that you must make English Language, Mathematics, Literature and any two Arts or Social Science subjects at the same sitting.

      1. OK thanks so much. I do appreciate… Any two arts or Social science subjects…. Here one can as well combine like picking GOVERNMENT which is an art and GEOGRAPHY which is a social science subject…or must it be the case of either these two arts subjects (Government & CRS) strictly or these two social science subjects (Economics &Geography) strictly (no combination)
        Thanks once again

        1. First Unilag considers Government a social science subject.

Any two arts of social science subjects means ‘two arts subjects’, or ‘two social science subjects’ or ‘one social science and one art subject’.

  41. Hi. How about a prospective student with a BA in History with a 4.2 (on a 5 point grade scale) but meets O Level requirements for Law in 2 sittings?

    1. Unilag requires that O-level results be made at ONE sitting.

The meat is that undergraduate admission into Unilag is so competitive such that you will have other applicants like you who will meet their O-level requirements at ONE sitting. Having met that requirement the job is easier for the school admissions committee to select such applicants ahead of you.

    1. Yes UTME is compulsory if you wish to get admitted to a full-time undergraduate programme in Unilag.

  42. Good day sir, unilag just released their cut off mark 2018 ,tho i didnt meet the merit cut off but i met the cut for my state (oyo) which is 60.075,now this is the issue my aggregate is also 60.075 ,i know i met the cut off but am i eligible for admission or is it necessary i pass the cut off mark ?,pls i would really appreciate if u can reply me

    1. There is no problem about that. Upload all your O-level subject results that you passed and your best five will be used to calculate your O-level aggregate.

  59. I have second class lower in my first degree and 4.0 aggregate in masters degree. Can I go ahead to apply for law if I have the required O ‘ level subjects.

  60. Thanks in millions. I plan to sit for WASSCE next year, because I’m an industrial chemist and my current WASSCE is Science. Can you please tell me the nine Arts Subject I’m to sit for? I guessed MATH, ENG, LIT, GOVT, CRK, YOR, CIVIC? Pls, any oda 2!

    1. If you credit all seven subjects you listed it will be enough to apply for Law or just about any Arts course. If you add and credit Economics and Biology in your WASSCE then you will also meet the O-level requirements for any Social Science or Business Administration course in Unilag. Cheers!

      1. Sorry, had you mean Biology and Economics are to be recognized as a social science subject in Unilag? Prior to your response here..
        Thanks!

  61. Pls, how do unilag calculate their aggregate 4 WASSCE, UTME and POST UTME? And what is d minimum cut off for Law

    1. You need to be specific about the examination you want to write CRS or Economics for. UTME or O-levels?

  62. I had a good A-level result through IJMB program
Govt=B, CRS=C, Literature=C equivalent to 11points due to added point
But had a deficiency in my O’Level literature=D7
Can I apply for direct entry for law with it

    1. English Language and any three Arts or Social Sciences subjects. Lagos does not accept Music, Fine Arts and Principles of Accounting. Lagos accepts either Economics or Commerce but not both.

  63. With my o’level results .MATHS B3,ENGLISH B3,YORUBA C4,LIT-IN-ENGC 6,MARKETING B2,ECONOMICS B3,CIVICS A1,GOVERNMENT A1,CRS E8.Do I stand any chance of gaining admission to study law in Unilag?
. In addition, what’s the best subject combo in UTME?. thanks.

    1. Dear Temitope, your O-level results meet the requirements for Law in Unilag. Yes you stand a chance.

For UTME select: English Language and any three Arts or Social Sciences subjects. Lagos does not accept Music, Fine Arts and Principles of Accounting. Lagos accepts either Economics or Commerce but not both.

  64. Pls sir can I study law with these olevel result
    Christian religious studies B3

  65. I have a B. Ed in English language Education and I meet the O level requirements… are there still requirements I need to meet to study law?

    1. Dear Esther, if your B. Ed in English language Education is a Second Class Upper and you meet the O level requirements then you can apply for Law by direct entry into Unilag.

    1. The O-level requirements for Law in Unilag are: Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature-in-English and any two of Arts or Social Sciences subjects.

  66. Is it true that yoruba language is a criteria for someone to gain admission to study law in unilag?

  67. Hello Sir,

I’m about completing my first degree in Theatre at a foreign university, and I’m hoping to study Law as my second degree in Nigeria, preferably at UNILAG.
I understand the requirements for direct entry candidates who wish to study Law, and I meet all except for “Literature-in-English” which I did not take while writing the WAEC exam four years ago.

Considering this, what are my chances of gaining admission into UNILAG for Law? If there’s no chance, what are the alternatives/options?
Should I write the JAMB exam, or does UNILAG have an entrance exam for candidates in my situation?

    Thanks.

    1. Sit for another o-LEVEL exam and make English, Mathematics, Literature and any two of Arts or Social Sciences subjects.

      1. Do I really have to take Maths again?
Why can’t I just write the JUPEB exam which includes Literature-in-English?
I don’t like Maths and will do anything to avoid it.

          1. You must have English Language, Mathematics, Literature-In-English and any other two Arts or Social Science subject in one O-level result to meet the O-level requirement for Law in Unilag.

  68. Sir i gt f9 in literature n d7 in history in WAEC bt i passed them in NECO exam, can i still mk it 2 unilag

  69. Is biology necessary to study law in UNILAG, that’s for the o’level combination

  70. I want to study law,and my jamb combinations re English language, Government, literature in English and C.r.s,am I good to go?

  71. I want to study accounting..my subject combination is math, english, economics and commerce

    1. For accounting in Unilag, you must replace commerce with any of Financial Accounts, Further Mathematics, Geography, Government, Biology and Literature-in-English.

      1. I am awaiting WAEC result but still writing NECO……….I want to know if I should still proceed with Unilag with 258 in JAMB for Law or I should change university..

        1. You need about 290+ in UTME to be competitive for Law in Unilag. This score should be backed with an O-level aggregate of 15+ and post UTME of 22+.

So 258 is relatively low for Law and if you must continue you must have better O-level aggregate and post UTME to make up.

See target score for all courses at: http://lagtutor.com/unilag-utme-target.php

  72. Hi
With a 223 jamb score and d7 in government o’level, can i study law in unilag if i make up for it in the post utme?

    1. You can if you beat the cut-off mark for Law and you meet the O-level and UTME subject requirements for Law. Government is not a required subject for Law.

    1. Yes you can. But you must have a minimum olevel aggregate score of 17/20 and a post UTME score of 26/30. Cheers!
