In 2016, I successfully tutored a lady to make a B3 in General Mathematics in her West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). She had tried three times unsuccessfully before then. She was ecstatic when she saw the result because Mathematics had always been her result spoiler. She also made credit pass in English Language and five other subjects. So the whole exam was a success for her. I have tutored many others to success in mathematics.
I understand mathematics fundamentally. I speak fluent English too and these two skills combine to help me communicate effectively with my students. I can explain the maths problems in ways my students can understand.
When we have to prepare for an exam we prepare adequately. I identify my candidates' strengths and we build on it. I let them know what is at stake and how they have to approach the task at hand. I help them develop their self-confidence in solving math problems.
Whenever I explain a topic I give examples and lots of homework. I let my students understand that the way to mastering maths is by devoting time to practising maths problems.
I made A1 in O-level Mathematics the two times I wrote it in May/June, 1999 and November/December, 1999. I also studied engineering to masters (MSc.) level so I have solved a lot of maths problems in my time. I still solve maths problems daily.
I promise to make maths learning as easy and as enjoyable as possible for my students.
