Unilag Announces Supplementary Admission into School of Foundation Studies for 2023/2024 Academic Session

Examination subjects are: Mathematics, English Language (20 questions each) and 3 other relevant subjects according to the candidate’s choice of subject combination (15 questions each), making a total of 85 questions, to be answered in one (1) hour.

Supplementary Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates into the School of Foundation Studies, University of Lagos for the 2023/2024 Academic Session.  Highly successful candidates after an approved examination administered by the Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB), are eligible for consideration for Direct Entry admission into the 200 Level of the Degree Programmes of the University through JAMB (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board).

The School of Foundation Studies will provide an intensive one-year programme teaching subjects in line with JUPEB syllabus for admission according to the following subject combination groupings:

Admission Requirements

A minimum of FIVE credits (English Language, Mathematics and three relevant subjects) obtained at one sitting at the SSCE/WASSCE, GCE/O/L, NECO with results obtained before registration. 

Procedure for completing the School of Foundation Studies e-application form:

  • Visit the School of Foundation Studies application site on applications.unilag.edu.ng.
  • On the prospective student’s menu, click on the School of Foundation Studies.
  • Go through the information on subject combinations relevant to your proposed choice of course of study for Direct Entry admission. Please note that changes have been made on the previous combinations.
  • Complete the Pre-Application Form to obtain a payment reference number (PRN) using the correct applicant’s names as obtained in the birth certificate and other relevant documents.
  • Make payment at any Commercial bank in Nigeria with the payment reference number (PRN)
  • Cost of Application Form excluding Bank Charges) is N25, 000.00 (non-refundable).
  • Return to the applications site on applications.unilag.edu.ng.
  • Log in with PRN as username and applicant’s surname in lowercase as password.
  • Complete the application form and print two copies for yourself. 
  • Examination pass will be available online a week before the examination date. Print a copy for yourself.

Eligible candidates should visit the University of Lagos website www.unilag.edu.ng and follow the steps stated below:

  • Click on Admissions.
  • Click on Start Fresh Application.
  • Click on Direct Entry (DE) Application.
  • Login with JAMB registration number as username and surname in lowercase as password.
  • Generate and print payment advice.
  • Proceed to any commercial bank to make payment or pay online.
  • Return to the Application portal on the University website.
  • Click on Continue Application to complete the screening form.
  • Upload your O’Level and A’Level results (First Degree, HND, OND, SDA, JUPEB, Cambridge A’Level, NCE, NFLV DIP, MUSON DIP, ABRSM, Trinity College London, Baccalaureate, DELF/DALF).
  • Click on Preview to verify the correctness of data supplied.
  • Click on Submit.
  • Print Direct Entry e-registration slip.
  • Proceed to the Admissions Office (located on the 1st Floor, Room 174, Senate House, UNILAG) and submit your printed Direct Entry e-registration slip and credentials.
  • Registration Fee – N2000

PLEASE NOTE THAT:

Candidates who made University of Lagos their first choice in the 2023/2024 Direct Entry (DE) JAMB application are eligible to register. Also, candidates must possess five (5) credit passes at one sitting in relevant O’level subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

Candidates, who will not be sixteen (16) years of age by 31st October, 2023 are not eligible and need not apply.

Candidates should ensure that personal details (such as Name, Date of Birth, State of Origin, LGA, etc.) are consistent in all their documents/results.

Candidates who do not participate in the online registration will not be considered for admission. 

Former students of the University whose admissions were withdrawn on the basis of poor academic performance or absence status could re-apply on condition that the new admission shall be for a new programme/course different from the former programme/course.

Any student expelled from the University cannot be offered fresh admission.

The University has zero tolerance for drug abuse. The University shall withdraw the admission of newly admitted students who test positive for drug use whenever the University conducts the test, either before or after registration.

Below are the directives for you to follow:

1.         Visit foundation.unilag.edu.ng, click on Student Page and login to the Student Portal:

                        User name:              Application number (e.g. M23323999)

                        Password:                 Surname in lower case.

2.         Update the Biodata Form and Upload your Passport Photograph

Ensure names are correct and in proper order: Surname, First Name, Other Name

Names should conform to details on Birth Certificate, NIN, and “O” Level Statement of Result.

Upload a passport photograph with a white background.

3.   Check the conditions guiding the School of Foundation Studies programme as contained in the Acceptance Letter. 

If conditions are agreeable, proceed with other items listed.

4.         Generate Pay advice for Acceptance Fee of twenty-five thousand Naira only (N25,000.00) on the University payment platform and make payment accordingly.

5.         Revisit your Portal with details of payment, i.e. RRR number, which would enable the print-out of your Provisional Admission Letter and acceptance letter.

6.         Come physically for screening on Thursday, 7th September, 2023 at the Jelili Adebisi Omotola Hall (formerly Multi-Purpose Hall) from 8.00a.m.

This guide shows you how to upload O’level results on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) portal for Direct Entry and UTME admissions.

It is required that UTME candidates upload their O-level results (WASSCE and NECO) on JAMB CAPS portal for their admission process to be successful through the system.

O-level results can be uploaded to the JAMB portal at two periods:

  • During the JAMB registration process
  • After JAMB exams

During the registration for UTME, students who have their WASSCE or NECO results can upload them to the JAMB platform.

Other students sitting for the WASSCE/NECO/NABTEB examinations would be required to upload their scores when the respective O-level results are released.

How to calculate total aggregate score for Unilag undergraduate admission

University of Lagos calculates aggregate scores of applicants by weighting 20% to O-Level results, 50% to the UTME score, and 30% to the post UTME score.

In this system of scoring: A1 = 4.0 points; B2 = 3.6 points; B3 = 3.2 points; C4 = 2.8 points; C5 = 2.4 points; C6 = 2.0 points. Grades must be obtained at ONE SITTING.

Following are the steps you should take to calculate your aggregate score:

  1. Divide your UTME score by 8.
  2. Use the system of scores above to calculate your O-level aggregate score using only your 5 required subjects for the course you applied.
  3. Get your Post UTME score.

The screening exercise commenced on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. Subsequently, it shall be conducted every Wednesday till the end of the admissions period.

The Dominican University Ibadan has commenced Post UTME Screening for admission into degree programmes of the university ahead of the 2023/2024 Academic Session.

Candidates who chose the Dominican University Ibadan as their preferred institution in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and other candidates who wish to change their institution of choice to the Dominican University Ibadan are welcome to register for Post UTME Screening.

The screening exercise commenced on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. Subsequently, it shall be conducted every Wednesday till the end of the admissions period.

The cut-off mark for the university is 140.
