Unilag 2019 undergraduate admission update

It has been over four weeks now since the 2019 Unilag post UTME held and since then results have been released as well as the cut-off marks for the various courses. However, what most candidates and parents are waiting for as of today October 4, 2019 is the admission list.

This wait has kept many nervous as the admissions committee compiles the list of candidates who have met the requirements for the various courses on offer. This list will be forwarded to JAMB who have the authority to offer admission to candidates.

The first place a candidate will know if they have been offered admission is on their CAPS portal with JAMB. That is where candidates will be offered admission by JAMB and every candidate will have the option to accept or decline the offer.

For every candidate who sat for the 2019 UTME the initial status was ‘NOT ADMITTED’. This status has changed to ‘ADMISSION IN PROGRESS’ for some candidates and in the following weeks it will change to ADMITTED after a candidate accepts an admission offer, or, to ‘NOT ADMITTED’ for those who decline the offer or who do not meet the requirements for admission.

So, the place to pay attention to is the JAMB CAPS portal and we wish all concerned the best of luck!

Cheers.

How to calculate your total aggregate score for Unilag undergraduate admission

University of Lagos calculates aggregate scores of applicants by weighting 20% to O-Level results, 50% to the UTME score, and 30% to the post UTME score.

In this system of scoring: A1 = 4.0 points; B2 = 3.6 points; B3 = 3.2 points; C4 = 2.8 points; C5 = 2.4 points; C6 = 2.0 points. Grades must be obtained at ONE SITTING.

Following are the steps you should take to calculate your aggregate score:

  1. Divide your UTME score by 8.

  2. Use the form at this link to calculate your O-level aggregate score using only your 5 required subjects for the course you applied for.

  3. Get your Post UTME score.

  4. Add the component scores from steps 1 – 3 above and the score you get is your total aggregate score.

Update on 2019 Unilag Post UTME

Registration for the 2019 Unilag post UTME is scheduled to close in a few days on Wednesday, 21st August, 2019. We urge applicants who have not completed their registration to do so. Click here to see how to apply.

Candidates hoping to register with their 2019 NECO results have been unable to complete the process because the platform does not accept awaiting results. They should remain hopeful.

Candidates who have completed their registration should print their examination pass which will show their examination time and venue. Candidates will not be allowed inside the examination hall without their examination pass.

The entrance examination to the Unilag School of Foundation Studies which began on Wednesday, 14th August, is scheduled to end today the 16th August. We have been receiving feedback. Some candidates who got their past questions from us expressed disappointment that they did not see repeated questions in the examination they wrote. We have always advised that candidates should not use the preparatory materials with the mind-set of seeing same questions in the examination. Instead, materials should be used by candidates to familiarize themselves with the nature and scope of the exam. This method has proven to lead to success.

Finally, we would like to remind candidates that the Unilag post UTME is an aptitude test. Its nature is different from UTME or WASSCE  or NECO the use of electronic calculator is not allowed. Quite frankly, calculators are not needed for the aptitude test. Candidates who prepare properly for the post UTME will find that use of a calculator would slow them down.

Cheers!

Sincerely,
